In the second-half of 2023, CEO and Chief Pilot, Jennie Bewes, has been designing and developing a compact, airline-friendly Events Jetsuit (IJ61540 – which stands for 6 engines, 154kg thrust), as well as prototyping a world-first design that will enable effortless flight, and the first step in a longer-game towards auto-pilot capability.
While Sydney Motorsport Park is home to a range of four and two-wheeled events and businesses, the high-flying ambitions of Sydney-based tech start-up, IJETPACK Aeronautics is certainly in a league of its own.
Further proving the intrinsic industry value of the AMIP facility, IJETPACK has engaged Sydney Composites to work on the new prototype’s carbon fibre body, who Jennie met at the AMIP launch (introduced another AMIP partner, Ian Baker of World Time Attack). No wonder Richard Hopkins dubbed it ‘the Tinder of motorsport’!
In 2024, the sky really is the limit for IJETPACK, with a number of major public events already scheduled, including at Sydney Motorsport Park. The ARDC and AMIP is proud to be supporting IJETPACK with testing facilities and industry contacts, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the unique Aussie business.
