Newcastle University Racing (NU Racing)

· April 15, 2023 ·

NU Racing is our electric single-seat race car team, competing in the national Formula-SAE competition against some 30+ national and international universities.

The competition centres on the design and manufacture of a single-seat formula-style race car, and involves a range of static (presentation) and dynamic (track) events.

Founded in 2003, the team has contested nearly 20 Formula-SAE events. They scored their best result in 2022, and aim to win a podium position in 2023.

UOW Racing

· April 15, 2023 ·

University of Wollongong’s entry into the Formula SAE competition, an international event hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers, (SAE), is an open-wheel, formula-style race car built by our next generation of engineering professionals.

The culmination of the project occurs when each team takes their car to the regional event, where teams are pitted against other local and international teams in a series of both static and dynamic events, including design, cost, acceleration, one lap sprints and endurance events on an auto-cross style track.

The project itself would not be possible without our close-knit group of educated leaders and hardworking students; willing to sacrifice their time to contribute and extend their skill set and professional competencies.

About

UNSW Redback Racing

· August 16, 2022 ·

Redback Racing is a student project from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. Their vision is to educate students beyond the classroom so that they can take their theoretical knowledge in engineering design and analysis, and business operations to apply it to the real world in the Formula SAE-A Competition.

Each year, Redback works to design, manufacture and race its newest vehicle – optimizing on its previous designs. The team take on the challenge of bringing ideas to life as we work throughout the year – manufacturing and testing each aspect of its cars.

At the end the year, the vehicle performs against other universities, both international and domestic, to learn from one another and improve their engineering and business skills. The teams take part in various events that challenge decisions on the design of the car, including static examinations alongside dynamic performances.

As such, Redback takes pride in the team’s commitment to the pursuit of engineering excellence as they take on the challenge of bringing their work to life.

“Working together with students from a variety of backgrounds and degrees, academics, and people of industry to design, manufacture and race an open-wheeled style race car in an internationally held competition such as Formula SAE has provided me with knowledge and skills that I will take with me throughout the rest of my career. I am living the dream being part of this motorsports team, a student project that has elevated my learning and engineering degree at UNSW to another level”
– Evan Favos, Treasurer 2022, Team Lead 2021.
